Quinlan Ford Panthers faced off with Fort Worth Western Hills Cougars winning over them with a final score of 24 to 19.

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Todd Wallace said this was a good comeback for the Panthers after coming from a rough loss with Ferris.

“This was a good bounce back game for us,” said Wallace. “They are a really talented team with size and speed so it was a good test for us. I thought we played really well defensively. We ran to the ball well and had 12 tackles for loss. Special Teams were also good as we converted all Extra Points, kicked a Field Goal, and blocked a punt and returned it for a TD. Offensively, we still had too many assignment busts, so we still have a lot of work to do there. Proud of our guys effort though. We have a good test this week with Canton as they can really throw the ball.”

The first two quarters were played fast with the Panthers focusing on catching up and staying ahead of Western Hills. With a little over three minutes left in the second quarter, the Panthers were ahead 10-7.

The weather on Thursday night cooperated giving the Panthers and their fans a warm, cloudy night to enjoy the game. The original day of the game was Friday at 7:30 p.m. But, that was short lived when showers and thunderstorms began rolling into the area just before 8:00 p.m., causing a 30-minute lightning delay, requiring the field and the bleachers to be cleared out. Spectators and officials went into local buildings and the nearby middle school gym.

During the third quarter, #10 Garrett Davis had a 26 yard return of punt blocked by #44 J. Howard. Howard also had a three-yard touchdown run. #42 from Western Hills in the fourth quarter had a six yard touch down but it wasn’t enough to catch up to the Panthers at the end of the game, giving the Panthers a final score of 24-19.

So far, in passing, Eli Chambers has 37 yards under his belt. In Rushing, Jose Acosta has 11 yards, Eli Chambers with 125, Garrett Davis with 22, Christian Hulse with 9, Cayson Hoff with 17 and J. Howard with 31.

Touchdowns during the game came from Garrett Davis, Cayson Hoff and J. Howard.

Game Balls went to Garrett Davis, Landon Helton, and Jose Talonia.

The Panthers now rank 2-2 overall.
