West Tawakoni EDC offering façade improvement grant

Each year the Economic Development Corporation offers a grant for façade improvement. EDC President Linda Kattner said that this year the number of grants are changing.

“It is available again this year and we increased the number of available grants to four,” said Kattner.

Last year, the EDC offered three grants. This year each grant will be $2500 dollars.

The grants are for exterior improvements only and may include repair or replacement of canopies, awnings, roofs, glass and windows, entrance upgrades, façade painting, original exterior architectural feature repair or replacement, exterior brick veneers or treatments, improvements for ADA accessibility compliance and general façade items.

Guidelines state the grants will not be awarded for improvements or repairs, including signage that has already commenced. Applicants must be current in their payment of city utilities and local property taxes, and enhancements must adhere to city building codes and zoning requirements.

Applications are available at the West Tawakoni City Hall and must be submitted no later than Mar. 31 for consideration. Receipts will have to be attached to the application.

To add, the West Tawakoni Economic Development Corporation held their first meeting of the year on Monday, Jan. 7.
